Freshwater BEAT REPORT

Firstly we would like to thank those of you who attended the community forum meeting on June 25th at the Memorial Hall Freshwater. The 3 top priorities were:
Using Pixley Hill as a bus route
Cycling on pavements
Speeding across a number of West Wight roads.
A number of other concerns were raised and although not in the top 3 will still be looked into and dealt with by the relevant partners.
Criminal damage has seen our biggest fall from last month along with Rowdy and Inconsiderate behaviour also seeing a decline, not only from last month but also a fall from this time last year. Assault and theft however has seen a slight increase in the numbers which have been reported to us.
We continue to visit local schools and youth clubs giving advice on behaviour and personal safety, and visiting addresses to give security advice and reassurance. The local junior youth club has also had a visit from the drugs dogs section which the children got to ask questions and meet the dogs which they all thoroughly enjoyed.
On Friday 9th July we will be taking a group of children from West Wight Middle school to Little Canada on a rewards day. These are children who have had good attendance and good behaviour. Rewarding those who are positive role models both at school and in the community.
Random speed checks in the Freshwater and Totland area have been made and will continue to happen. If there is a particular area which you feel is of concern then please let us know.
Please can we remind people when leaving your property and vehicles unattended to please make sure windows are secure even in the hot weather.
